The Wloszakowice commune

is located in the Greater Poland region. in the northwestern part of the administrative district of Leszno. The seat of the commune is Włoszakowice, the village with the population of 2700 inhabitants. The whole commune, consisting of 10 villages having their own administrative offices and the surmmer resort of Boszkowo, is inhabited by about 10 000 people. Tourists find the region attractive because of the numerous lakes. especially the Dominickie Lake (334 ha). Good tourist infrastructure make it the place of rest and recreation. the region for the inhabitants of the administrative district of Leszno. of the province of Greater Poland and of Lower Silesia. A well-developed catering and night's lodging make it possible for the numerous visitors to stay here.

The territory of the commune occupies one of the biggest forest areas of the district, which enables hunting to develop within the confines of organized game-circles as well as constituyes a friendly place for walking along marked tourist tracks. However, the Wloszakowice commune is not a typically twurist one: arable land covering 50% of the area of the commune rnake it an agricultural region. Gardening is well-deyeloped; specifically vegetables (tomatoes. mushroom, asparagus) and flowers are grown.

In the territory of the Wloszakowice commune the economic sector thrives. Many private enterprises and companies operate here. "Palimex", producing wooden eurobases. serves as an example. The producer of carbonated mineral water. "Hermes" is another one. The biggest. however. is the manufacturer with 230 employees -of cardboard and packages. Werner Kenkel located in Krzycko Wielkie.

The trump of the commune is the modern telecommunications network as well as the existing cellular telephone network. Numerous ecology-oriented actions are undertaken. This is exemplified by the existing commune sewage works, the system of sewers in the village of Grotniki, and the steps taken to install sewers in Wloszakowice. Bukówiec Górny. and on the edges of the Dominickie Lake.

In the territory of the comnune of Włoszakowice education is organized in a modern way. There are five kindergartens and the same number of elementary schools. Since 1992 the Wloszkowice high school has been active with a major in computer science and with an extended English programmed coursc. Students going to this school, including the ones from the neighboring cormmunes and towns. take advantage of the modern computer atelier equipped with new-generation hard- and software with the possibility of connecting to internet.

In the commune of Wloszakowice one can encounter numerous monunients. The most precious oncs are the earlybaroque church and the hunting palace in Wloszakowice. the latter being the seat of the adrninistrative office of the commune. There are also the local museum and the K.Kurpiński museum.

The amateur artistc rnovement flourishes. Many choirs. bagpipe bands. regional folk groups and bands take an active part in the local life. The Karol Kurpiński National Contest of Young Instrumentalists has been taking place in Włoszakowice since l964 to the memory of the great Polish composer born in the village.
